sasanelliSasanelli are typical sweets of the Murgia and specifically of the area of Gravina in Puglia. They are made with flour, sugar, cooked wine, grated orange peel, cinnamon, cloves and cocoa. In some cases you can find covered with a thin layer of almonds or raisins inside.
The color of this homemade dessert is very dark. All families of middle and lower class prepared it for holidays or weddings.
